SERVICES AND RATES

We offer a variety of packages to guide you through every step of the publishing process, from helping you with your query letter to in-depth manuscript critiques. We will provide encouragement on what is working in your manuscript and how to maximize your strengths as a writer, as well as helping you figure out where you can improve. We cannot guarantee that you will get agent representation or sell your book, but we certainly hope you'll be closer!

We are currently only accepting submissions for Middle Grade (MG) and Young Adult (YA) novels. At this time we do not critique picture books, chapter books, non-fiction, poetry, or short stories.

BIG-PICTURE EDIT

We'll write you an editorial letter, giving you an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript (Please note, we will not make comments on the manuscript itself). We'll focus on:
  • Plot & Pacing: Does every page propel the story forward? Is there enough conflict? Do the stakes feel high enough?
  • Character Development: Do we care about your characters? Are they fully-realized and compelling?
  • Voice: Is your voice consistent, authentic, and intriguing?
  • Writing: Is it easy and enjoyable to read? Does it flow and fit the tone of the book?
  • World-building: Is your setting vivid, whether it's fantasy or the real world? Are you employing all five senses to help your reader feel fully present?

LINE EDIT + EDIT LETTER

We will write you a Big-Picture editorial letter, PLUS provide line-level feedback on your manuscript using MS-Word's Track Changes and Margin Notes functions. As applicable, we'll share our reactions as we read, make suggestions, and highlight awkward sentences, inconsistencies, areas that need trimming, repetition, etc. We will also note things that are working well and what we'd like to see more of!

"Jess understands voice, she has a knack for characterization, and she knows how to bring a book to the next level. Without her, my last three books would definitely have been missing something. She rocks!"
Miranda Kenneally, CATCHING JORDAN
"Without Elizabeth, I can 100 per cent say I'd never have got my two-book deal with HarperCollins."
Tracy Buchanan, MY SISTER'S SECRET
"Paula has a remarkable ability to hone in on weaknesses of plot and characterization, and her insights always dramatically improve my work."
Antony John, ELEMENTAL
"Emily has an editorial eye that understands not only what a book is--but what it has the potential to become."
Courtney Summers, ALL THE RAGE
"Tiffany is a master of pointing out where characters should go deeper, give more to the reader, peel back a layer. Her critiques are the magical blend of intelligence and encouragement."
K.M. Walton, CRACKED (Simon Pulse)
